Samza Bookkeeping is Sam — no agency, no revolving door of staff, just one bookkeeper who genuinely likes untangling other people's books.
Every bookkeeper has an origin story, and mine starts the way a lot of them do: with a small business that needed its books cleaned up, and nobody else around to do it. What began as helping out turned into a genuine fascination with the way clean financial records change how a business owner sleeps at night. There is a particular kind of relief that comes from finally knowing, with certainty, what your numbers actually say — and I found I liked being the person who delivers that relief.
Samza Bookkeeping launched in 2019 out of the belief that small business owners deserve a bookkeeper who treats their books like they matter, not like a line item to be processed as quickly as possible. Since then, the practice has grown one referral at a time, working with e-commerce shops, service businesses, trucking companies, retail stores, and everything in between — proof that good bookkeeping principles hold up no matter what the business actually sells.
What hasn't changed since day one is the structure of the practice itself: no account managers, no bouncing between staff, no outsourcing your books to whoever happens to be free that week. When you work with Samza Bookkeeping, you work with Sam — every reconciliation, every report, every phone call.
Outside of the day-to-day client work, I stay current through ongoing QuickBooks Online training and certification, because software changes fast and half-updated knowledge is how mistakes creep into a client's books. Staying sharp on the tools is part of the job, not an afterthought.
These aren't marketing language — they're the actual standards each client relationship gets held to.
No account managers or ticket queues. Questions get answered by the person who actually did the work.
Reconciliation isn't optional or occasional. Every account gets checked, every month, without exception.
Your business context matters. Numbers get interpreted with an understanding of how you actually operate.
Financial statements should inform decisions, not require a translator. Reports are built to be read, not decoded.
Started in the Twin Cities with a handful of small business clients and a commitment to doing bookkeeping properly.
Grew beyond basic transaction categorization into full financial reporting, catch-up cleanup, and tax-season support.
Completed certification through Intuit's official training program to bring deeper platform expertise to every client engagement.
Began serving clients nationwide, proving that great bookkeeping doesn't require being in the same city, let alone the same room.
The practice has grown, but the structure hasn't: every client still works with Sam, not a rotating team.
